About

Matthew Utterback is an entrepreneur and investor who catalyzes ideas into sustainable ventures. He began his career at the MIT Entrepreneurship Center and joined NewcoGen Group - the predecessor fund to Flagship Pioneering - in 2001.

His work since then has spanned startups and social enterprises in Cambridge, MA, Southeast Asia, and Africa. He’s been a co-founder or core team member in Affinnova (acquired by Nielsen), StatDNA (Acquired by Arsenal F.C.), Digital Divide Data, and ekitabu.

In 2022, he co-founded Impact Ventures Partners Fund with Will Clurman to support a growing investment portfolio including eKitabu, Viska Bio, Deck Bio and Launchnodes.

Matt holds a B.A. in Politics from Oberlin College, where he also studied saxophone, and an M.A. in Political Science from Central European University in Budapest.

He lives with his wife, Danielle Stillman, and their family in Middlebury, Vermont, U.S.A.
